If the great BC power outage of 2015 taught us anything, it was that anything can happen at any time. Final tallies estimate power was lost to over 500,000 homes and businesses across BC, with some outages lasting several days. This had a lot of people taking a good sober look at their reliance on power from the grid.

Obviously there are small ways you can prepare for power outages, like having a generator ready to use in an emergency, but what about living without relying on power from the grid at all? What would that look like?
